John Keble Church on the corner of Deans Lane and Church Close, in Mill Hill, a suburb on the North West edge of London, England. It was completed in 1936 and was regarded at the time as a startlingly modern building. It was built to serve the people who moved into the area between the centre of Mill Hill and the streets around Edgware Station, as it was being developed in the years between the two great wars. Most of our present congregation live within this area, but some come from further away. You are very welcome at all our services, and the wide range of church organisations and activities. |

Choir Appeal - Throughout the seventy seven years of our existence
as a congregation, music has been central to our worship of God each
Sunday. We enjoy being able to join together in singing the hymns and we
also very much appreciate the contribution the choir makes to our worship,
both in their leading of the singing in which we join together and in what
they sing on their own. This can only continue if the choir has sufficient
members for this to be possible. The number of chorister we have now is far fewer than we used to have, and it is vital for the future of our choir, and of our worship, that new younger ones come forward. On two occasions in the last few weeks many of the choristers we do have were unable to be present and this showed us all how desperately we need to enlarge our group of choristers. So here is an urgent "call" to you. If you (or someone in your family) used to be a chorister, might you be able to come back? If you are seven or older (or have a son or daughter who is) would you like to become part of the choir? Yes, it takes time and effort but the rewards of singing with others (as I know from my own experience when young) are very great indeed and can remain with you for the rest of your life. The choir practices before the service on Sunday from 9.00 a.m. and for about half a our after the service. We would also plan a "training rehearsal" for new choristers during the week at a time to suit all those involved. If you want to know more, please speak to me or to our Director of Music, Jonathan Hope, or to any adult member of the choir. |
